    Experienced Operations Manager (PT) for our San Diego office

    compensation: $40,000 per year for 20-25 hours/week work schedule

    Seeking: Part-Time Operations Manager for San Diego office of multi-state law firm.
    The Job: The San Diego Operations Manager will manage operations for the Firm’s San Diego office and coordinate with other office locations. Operations include managing facilities, managing employees, managing vendors (legal client support services, suppliers, IT, finance, human resources, insurance, maintenance, leases, etc.), negotiate contracts with vendors, creating and running daily reports for executive management, creating and ensuring compliance with budgets, handling day-to-day issues to keep the Firm running smoothly, assisting in the formal documentation of Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring staff compliance with deadlines and procedures, handling administrative compliance with governing authorities, and advising executive management on improvements for efficiency.
    Unlike other law firms, at Bellatrix PC there is no billable hour requirement for Lawyers and Paralegals. This means that management of staff time and resources is crucial to maintain profitability. Lawyers and Paralegals are expected to handle a reasonable caseload as a team. While we all work hard, and litigation sometimes requires long days, Bellatrix PC’s employees usually have evenings and weekends off — this is not a sweatshop law firm. It is nonetheless crucial that all employees are comfortable with the sometimes high-stress environment of a law firm.
    The Firm: Bellatrix PC is a healthy and growing, woman-owned law firm with offices in San Diego and Saint Louis, Missouri, and budding practices in Florida and Riverside, California. Additional offices are planned between now and 2020. We are still small enough to be a close-knit team, but we are experiencing healthy growth.     Qualifications:
    • A minimum of 5-years’ experience in business operations.
    • Experience with law firms a plus, but not necessary.
    • Excellent judgment and integrity in your work ethic.
    • Professional written and oral communication skills.
    • Creative and resourceful; research and analytical skills a must.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Comfortable with cloud-based technology and a paperless office environment.

    Compensation: This position is part-time, salaried-exempt. A Part-Time Operations Manager earns $40,000 per year (which is 50% of the full time salary) and is expected to work a 50% schedule. More hours or a full time schedule in the future are possible depending on growth and needs, but will not be required.     Senior Paralegal (FT) with 5+ years’ experience in civil litigation 

    compensation: $30 per hour, plus overtime

    Seeking: Senior Paralegal with 5+ years’ experience in civil litigation for San Diego office.
    The Job: The job will be full-time and approximately 80% civil litigation (state and Federal courts) and 20% transactional. The Firm acts as outside and general counsel for several small, medium and enterprise clients. Transactional work may include assisting attorneys in corporate compliance documents (minutes, articles, etc.), employment law audits, trademarks applications, creating real estate documents, or supervising junior paralegals in these tasks.
    The Senior Paralegal will be assigned to litigation case teams with attorneys. Our Paralegal will be expected to handle cases from pre-litigation through post-judgment in a day-to-day capacity. Duties include: processing all incoming case-related mail, drafting pleadings and pleading shells; drafting discovery requests and responses; assisting in document reviews and productions; drafting motions and motion shells; organizing evidence and contributing to case notebooks; calendaring; maintaining files; researching and shepardizing; filing and serving court papers; working with clients, witnesses, reporters and the court; assisting in trial and trial preparation; providing or acquiring notary services, and supervising junior paralegals in these tasks.
    Lawsuits will include complex actions such as multi-party and class action cases. The Firm handles both defense and plaintiff work, and our cases are never routine.
    There is no billable hour requirement. Paralegals are expected to manage a reasonable load of cases assigned to them by Bellatrix PC’s managing attorneys.     • Advanced litigation skills (such as trial) are a plus.
    • Excellent judgment and integrity in your work ethic.
    • Professional writing skills.
    • Knowledge of law office procedures and local court/jurisdiction rules and procedures.
    • Resourceful research and analytical skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Comfortable with cloud-based technology for filing, case management, paperless recordkeeping, and research. Experience with Clio (or similar billing software) and NetDocuments (or similar software, such as iManage or Worksite) a plus. Experience with e-filing using ECF and OneLegal required.
    • Comfortable with enterprise phone systems (we use RingCentral).
    • Comfortable working in Windows 10 environment.
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Ability to manage time and tasks effectively.
    • Able to maintain strict client confidentiality.
    • Notary Public a plus.
    • Bachelor’s Degree, Paralegal Certificate, and/or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
